Hospital Galenia

My five year old had a bad fall on his head and we went here in an ambulance. The physicians were experienced, competent and compassionate. All medical staff were amazing with my son. Everything was done very efficiently. It was an exceptional experience from a patient perspective. Yes it was a lot of money out of pocket but they were clear about how to get reimbursement from the insurance and they asked before each procedure if we consented to the cost. If you have an emergency and you need care I’d recommend.

It feels very comfortable being there. Olivia is the best. She arranges everything for you when you are from outside the country of Mexico. You show up and all is prepared. Her personality is very welcoming and friendly. I love not having to worry about the stress of paper work especially since i don't know Spanish well. All her subordinates speak English as well and are all very nice. Galenia might be costly however the peace of mind you get not being stresses out with paperwork helps a lot. I don't even need to Contact my insurance. They do everything for you. Best service. The receptionist at imaging are a bit slow and don't know any English. But the staff attending to you in the radiation area are super friendly and helpful. I see many people complain about the price. This is a private hospital and will be costly. It is the same in my own country. Private hospitals cost a lot but if you have insurance and you are not from Mexico, then I highly recommend using their tourism concierge. They are a great help and speak English. They are all very nice and helpful. I have had the pleasure of meeting and being assisted by Olivia (who is the best), Ellen, Ricardo and another guy i cant remember his name. Not sure if it is Daniel or something with a D. That was over 2 years ago i met him. They arranged everything with my insurance prior to going there. I just showed up and Olivia walked me through everything. I was in and out as quick as possible. No long waiting. Use the concierge service they have. It really helps you from stressing about paperwork and payments. My journey at Galenia started September 2021 and I continue into 2023......

We went to this Hospital to find out how much maternity packages cost. Up to this point everything was normal, then they asked if we were tourists or residents and what nationality we were. When I said we were tourists they said the packages were for residents only and that we had to go to the “international billing department.” They have a whole department to screw tourists over. When they said this, we went to the “international billing department” and they said that they couldn’t give us a price tag because it “all depended.” The packages “for residents” that they had showed us previously were more expensive than all the other clinics in Cancun. I told them we were leaving and never looked back. I don’t care that they are expensive that’s fine but that they specifically discriminate people by national origin when they are a private hospital and not a public one. So it’s just a strategy to steal, they have no morals. We went to another less expensive private clinic in Cancun they never asked us any of this nonesense and we had a beautiful baby, never looked back on these criminals.

Hospital is private practice so I know the doctors did the best they could, but as far as the hospital it has to be one of the worst experiences I've had. Wife was in labor in need of emergency C-section but they made her wait 3 hours in pain for her to sign documents to ensure they would get paid first. Refused to release any of the babies medical documents of her or my son and lied multiple times about this before we finally got a transfer. I hope we never need to receive service there again.

Avoid this hospital, they don’t care about health only money. Came with my kid both Mexican and American and they wanted me to go through “International office” . For care as a Mexican I was going to be charged 60,000 pesos a night , for care as an American 10,000 dollars a night.
